KOOL TV BABE OF THE WEEK: 'SERENITY' AND 'TERMINATOR's SUMMER GLAU

Whether playing innocent, often vulnerable, little girl lost type figures trying to find themselves, to capable, independent, fiery and sexy femme fatales quickly getting your attention, or zestfully inhabiting lithe, adaptable fantasy heroines or even a kick-ass cyborg from the shocking future environs of science fiction, Texan-born actress Summer Glau has easily proved herself as one of TV's hottest and consistently watchable acting properties these last ten years. With her cute babyface looks, healthily athletic but also waif-like sex appeal she has been a very popular draw worldwide with audiences and die-hard fans in all of her series leads and guest appearances, whilst her name linked to any current series or on the horizon project quickly garners attention.

Memorable recent appearances have included HAWAII FIVE-O, ALPHAS (as on the run Doctor Skylar Adams), GREY'S ANATOMY and on and off season stints in the likes of superhero drama THE CAPE, explosive character drama THE UNIT (playing an adulteress widow with designs on series lead Max Martini), and comedy (with THE BIG BANG THEORY-likely outshining the main cast in a show that I personally think is about as funny as a meteorite strike!). But its in the realms of cult TV and sci-fi/fantasy drama that she's most admired and positively idolized: playing the first female Terminator, and bringing lots of moody sex appeal, in the short running but acclaimed TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES, unintentionally stealing the thunder from series lead, and future GAME OF THRONES star, Lena Headey, playing paranoid schizophrenic Tess Doerner in the mystery thriller of alien abductees returned to Earth, THE 4400, playing quirkily dedicated but revenge fuelled scientist Bennett Halverson in Season Two of Joss Whedon's love-it-or hate-it DOLLHOUSE, and finally, as the formidably deadly killing machine River in SERENITY, the feature length spin-off from Whedon's other cult hit, blending mixing western and sci-fi: FIREFLY.

Glau would be best remembered by sci-fi fans for her appearance in cult movie hit SERENITY. Image: FOX.

Always the busy Queen Bee, look out for Miss Glau's future projects: as a new baddie facing the ARROW in its anticipated second season, starring with GAME OF THRONES icon Peter Dinklage in horror/thriller movie KNIGHTS OF BADASSDOM, and voicing within an ensemble cast for the World War II animated action series PETER PANZERFAUST, based on the hit comic series.
